The Missouri Athletic Club opened its doors in 1903 as St. Louis prepared to host the first Olympic Games held in the United States. More than a century later, the Club remains at the center of the city's rich sporting tradition.
Today, the Club serves as the backdrop for many of the region’s most celebrated sports gatherings, bringing together athletes, coaches, executives, media members, and fans to honor excellence across generations. Signature events include:
With a legacy deeply rooted in athletics, the partnership between the MAC and the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame is a natural extension of the Club’s longstanding connection to the games, teams, and individuals who have helped shape St. Louis sports.
Founded in 2009, the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame honors the athletes, coaches, broadcasters, and contributors whose achievements have left a lasting mark on the region. Each year, its induction dinner brings together generations of sports figures at the Downtown Clubhouse to celebrate the people and moments that helped define St. Louis as one of America’s great sports cities.
The MAC is also home to the Hall of Fame’s Sports Talk series, offering members and guests an opportunity to hear firsthand from some of the biggest names in sports. The inaugural event, held this summer at the West Clubhouse, featured a panel of St. Louis soccer standouts who represented the U.S. Men’s National Team alongside Hall of Famer Bill McDermott, sharing stories of the World Cup and the city’s remarkable influence on the sport.
In a city where sports memories are passed down as family stories, the Missouri Athletic Club continues to provide a place where those moments are celebrated, preserved, and shared. Together, the MAC and the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame are helping ensure that the people and achievements that shaped St. Louis sports remain part of its story for generations to come.
