The best professional squash players will gather in St. Louis for the World Squash Doubles Championship, Sept. 21-24. The Missouri Athletic Club's West Clubhouse and Racquet Club of St. Louis will host the matches. Approximately 80 teams comprised of 120 professionals and 100 amateurs will compete for $80,000 in prize money.
“This is the most prestigious doubles squash tournament in the world,” said MAC Director of Squash Adam Bews. “To have the World Championships coming to St. Louis is beyond something I could have imagined. I am so happy for all involved that we were able to secure this event, and I can’t wait to bring the highest level of doubles in the world to our doorstep.”
The tournament is held every two years, and the 2017 event will be the 12th edition of the Championships. “The event will be the highlight of the 2017-18 calendar with the largest draws and one of the largest purses of the season,” said Squash Doubles Association Board chair Kevin Luzak.
The tournament will be divided into men’s, women’s and mixed doubles divisions as well as by age. There will also be an amateur division, featuring 15 local teams. Spectators are encouraged to watch the exciting action, and there is no charge to attend. See the tournament schedule.
