By Michael J. Kozeny, MAC President
As I write this, St. Louis is preparing for what forecasters have dubbed “Snowmageddon.” While the name may be lighthearted, winter weather always reminds us to slow down, look out for one another and prioritize safety. I hope every member of our MAC family stays warm, safe and well as we navigate the heart of winter together.
Last month, we kicked off our strategic planning sessions with a focus on defining a clear and thoughtful roadmap for the future of the Club. Through this important process, we are identifying key opportunities and priorities that will guide the MAC in the years ahead. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the planning committee, led by Gov. Adrian Di Bisceglie and Gov. Cale Prokopf, for their leadership, dedication and commitment to this critical work.
January also marked an important milestone in our governance process with the board vote for the 2026-27 officer class. A heartfelt congratulations to President-elect Mark Milton, First Vice President Jerina Phillips, Second Vice President Bob Bax, Secretary Cale Prokopf and Treasurer Peggy Northcott. These outstanding leaders will officially assume their roles in May, and I am confident the Club will benefit greatly from their guidance, experience and vision.

On Jan. 9, 2026, we were proud to host the annual MAC Hermann Trophy Banquet at the Downtown Clubhouse. This prestigious event honors the nation’s top collegiate soccer players and remains one of the Missouri Athletic Club’s most distinguished traditions. Special thanks go to Past Gov. Greg Beekman and his wife, Annie Beekman, for continuing to co-chair this important event. I would also like to thank the MAC team for their exceptional efforts; it was truly an extraordinary evening. Finally, we are deeply grateful to the Hermann family for their continued support and for lending their name to this national celebration of collegiate soccer at the MAC.

On Jan. 15, 2026, the Missouri Athletic Club proudly celebrated the 15th anniversary of the St. Louis Cardinals’ 2011 World Series championship. It is hard to believe 15 years have passed since that unforgettable run. The manner in which the Cardinals captured the 2011 World Series remains one of the greatest moments in World Series history and certainly one of the most memorable for Cardinals fans. The celebration featured a panel discussion led by emcee Dan McLaughlin with members of the championship team, including World Series hero David Freese, Jason Motte, Allen Craig, Daniel Descalso and Jon Jay. Special thanks go to Past Gov. Steve Albart, who chairs the MAC Speaker Series, for once again delivering an outstanding Club event.
Looking ahead, I hope you have registered to attend the President’s Gala on Feb. 14, 2026. It promises to be a wonderful celebration as we begin a new year together, and I look forward to seeing many of you there.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support of the Missouri Athletic Club.
